Rhetorical Studies Reading Group

at the university of illinois

Greetings, Illinois rhetoricians! We are happy to announce that William Keith, Professor of Communication and English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will join the Rhetorical Studies Reading Group for a discussion cohering around his work on public deliberation, rhetorical education, and disciplinary histories of Speech Communication.

Professor Keith has requested that we read three pieces ahead of the meeting: “Creating Citizens Through Communication Education in the United States,” “The Mt. Oread Manifesto on Rhetorical Education 2013,” and “We Are the Speech Teachers.”

Please join us on Thursday, February 19, from 3-4:30 in 4103 Lincoln Hall for what promises to be a great conversation. And, as always, please share this information with anyone else who may be interested in Professor Keith’s work in particular, and rhetorical studies in general.

Any questions about this event should be directed to Paul McKean: pmckean2@illinois.edu.

We look forward to seeing you on the 19th!
